Each year, the dates and the names change, but the Capstone Exhibit remains — that annual right [sic] of passage for graduating seniors in the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. For each student, this one-day exhibit — drawn from their story of living and learning art, of making art, of talking about art — has taken four years to prepare. For some, it’s their farewell to school; for others, their ticket to graduate study; for all, entry into their future. Forty-five Shepherd students received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May. Meet seven of them: two graphic designers, two painters, two photographers and one sculptor.
